A Mr. Jason Barr was incumbent in this position 1999-2000. He is/was a pleasant enough fellow who, although he is/was Regional Policy Manager, is not permitted to discuss or reveal what those policies are. For that you are referred to Fleischman-Hillard Public Relations ('the nation's fifth largest public relations firm'); you can attempt to speak to Michelle (415-356-1014), but don't have an expectation that you'll ever actually talk to her. Mr. Barr's predecessor, one Nick Nicholas, is/was the Executive Director of the RBL, so you should have a sense of where PacBell is on the issue of making decisions about customer's email without actual telling its customers what it's doing. This can be confirmed by checking the online version of their terms and conditions and their acceptable use policy (dated 2/28/01). Note that they make a big point about so-called anti-spam laws in California, but conveniently neglect to point out that in March 2000 the court declared them to be unconstitutional.
